Overheard
A mother and her slightly pudgy daughter entered a fitting room at a store. The mother was trying to get a bathing suit for her daughter. They had tried on several so far, with no winners. A minute later I heard the mother exclaim:
“You know Jade, it looks magnificent! Do you love it?!”
I was expecting an animated answer in response to such an energized question, thinking excitement ran in the family. To my great personal amusement, all Jade grumbled back was a single syllable. “… No.”
